Getting started / Chat with Lenz

Chat with Lenz

Ask Lenz to build tables, add and update rows, draft emails and set up automations. It works from your workspace, not the web.

Starting a chat

You can start a chat from a few places:

  • The box on Home, or on a project's page (then it's part of that project)
  • ⌘K, then type your question and pick Ask Lenz
  • Ask Lenz on a table (⌘J), which opens a panel beside the rows

Your chats are private to you, listed under Chats in the sidebar and grouped by project. Messages can be up to 2,000 characters.

Ask Lenz beside a table

The panel reads the rows on screen and answers right there. The chat is saved in Chats too. Click Open as a full chat to keep going on a full page.

What Lenz can do

  • Create projects and tables, add columns, link tables together, and save views
  • Add, update and link rows
  • Read and write files in a project (Markdown, text, CSV, HTML and JSON)
  • Search your Gmail, read threads, and write drafts
  • Create, change and pause automations
  • Remember your goal, constraints and decisions for the project

What it can't do

  • Search the web. Chats work from what's in your workspace. Web research runs in automations.
  • Send email. Drafts wait in Approvals.
  • Turn on an automation. That's always you.
  • Delete rows on its own. It can propose a delete, and you decide in Approvals.

While it works

You'll see Lenz is working on it… with each step as it happens. You can leave the page; the reply is saved when it's done. You can't send another message until it finishes.

If a reply doesn't finish, you'll see what went wrong and a Send again button. A single reply can run for up to four minutes.

Limits

Each workspace gets 50 runs a day on Lenz's key, shared between chats and automations. An owner can add your own key under Settings → Models to lift the cap. See Models & API keys.
